What are some ways to reduce the risk of developing mice control problems?
  1. Keep them homeless
Reduce the available habitat within your home or place of business where a pest might want to set up a home of their own. This means keeping things clean and free especially of food particles.
  2. Seal cracks and crevices
Pests come in from the outside environment, meaning you can reduce the chances of their taking up residence in your home by sealing up cracks and crevices, particularly around your foundation, eaves, doors, and windows.
  3. Clean up
Get rid of stacks of newspaper, miscellaneous papers, bags, cardboard boxes, and other material which a pest might use to make a good home or nest. Wipe up spills and crumbs right away, and don’t leave dirty dishes lying around.
  4. Keep a lid on it
Keep a tight lid on trashcans and empty them often, especially if you are throwing away fragrant or sweet things. When storing food in your pantry and cabinets, store it in tightly sealed containers.
  5. Keep the space dry

About Mouse Control in SE Portland

How long does it take to get rid of mice?

The timeline for extermination really depends on the existing population when we get started. Mice have babies five to ten times a year with litters of 3 to 14 baby mice called pups.

It also depends if you are comfortable emptying and replacing traps yourself. Oregon Insect and Rodent Control is one of the few Pest Control companies that will work with you to keep your bill down.

We don’t often make more than one or two visits. Trapping you in a costly maintenance contract is not how we like to do business. Contact Glenn directly for a custom quote and better idea of how soon you can be mouse free.

How expensive is an exterminator?

Needless up-selling is a common practice by many larger companies in the Pest Control industry. Our founder Glenn experienced it firsthand.

The driving force for opening his own extermination service was to provide products and services with outstanding value.  His dedication to customer satisfaction is acknowledged by our five star reviews.  In fact, most of our business is referral business.

We are happy to share our knowledge and provide the products to you directly.  Some of our clients want to save money by doing the dirty work themselves.  That’s great.  We are happy to be your resource for mouse extermination

What do mice hate the most?

Mice have an outstanding sense of smell. They are typically suspicious of anything that is too fresh. Strong botanical scents are a turn off for these vermin. Cinnamon, veinegar, peppermint, clove oil, and cayenne pepper are all reportedly repellents.

While food inspired scents, even from candles can be attractive for mice. So you might want to avoid lighting the vanilla or sugar cookie candle until your mice are exterminated.

All that being said, peppermint oil may repel mice if the attraction to food or shelter isn’t that strong. However in the northwest, with cold and wet fall and winters and food being scarce, they will find another way to invade your home. At least in our experience.

Will I need to sign up for weekly or monthly services?

Our favorite thing about this industry is the relationships we form with customers as we help solve their pest management problems. If our customers need us again, we want to be the ones who come first to mind as the pest control experts to call.

For those who experience regular invasions or want to prevent an incursion before it happens, we are happy to provide quarterly or bi-annual services. Note that we don’t do monthly service plans like a lot of the other guys – we find that charging for those extra visits isn’t necessary when we use pest control products according to their own recommendations

How soon can we respond?
