There are a lot of big names in the Clackamas pest control industry. Here are a few reasons why it makes sense to go with a local pest control company like OIRC over the national brands
It would be easy to fool someone when delivering wasp control services. Traps, bait, and sprays are often not visible to the consumer, and even if that’s not the case it can be difficult to be sure how well-laid they truly are. Beyond that, excuses for why initial attempts fail are easy to find, drawing property owners into spending more money to follow the advice of the “experts” who aren’t doing their job right. At Oregon Insect and Rodent Control, we only use brand-name products, and we use them according to their specifications for maximum effectiveness. We don’t cut any corners in our care for customers.
Needless upselling is common practice by the giants of the pest control industry. Our founder Glenn experienced it firsthand, and it’s the major reason why he left to start his own company. We only sell products and services that we are confident are really going to be helpful. But we don’t expect you to simply take our word for it – we operate with as much transparency as possible so you can be assured that we are trustworthy. Our goal is to establish long-term relationships of trust with our customers, not get them to open their wallets out of desperation.
Our process of pest control is more than laying bait and leaving. If we see a way that you can prevent pest problems from reoccurring or even handle your pest control problem on your own, we let you know, even when it means we won’t be able to charge as much. Education is a key part of the integrated pest management (IPM) approach, through which we can achieve better results in a more environmentally friendly way, as you can read about next.
At Oregon Insect and Rodent Control, we realize that this is the environment we will pass down to our kids. We live and work in Oregon, and have no national corporate protocol to inhibit our doing what’s right for the place in which we live. Our policy is to deal with your pest control problem using minimal chemicals, applied strategically for greatest results. The indoor environment matters, too. Where some companies will force you to watch out for your own welfare as they spray, we let you know the risks and take steps to minimize your family’s exposure to substances which might not be good for them.
Our favorite thing about this industry is the relationships we form with customers as we help solve their pest management problems. If our customers need us again, we want to be the ones who come first to mind as the pest control experts to call. For those who experience regular invasions or want to prevent an incursion before it happens, we are happy to provide quarterly or bi-annual services. Note that we don’t do monthly service plans like a lot of the other guys – we find that charging for those extra visits isn’t necessary when we use pest control products according to their own recommendations
With over 18 years’ experience operating as an independent Clackamas wasp control company, we’ve seen it all and know the products and methods to apply in order to effectively and quickly manage most any pest problem you might be experiencing.

These insects are considered to be beneficial because they feed their young a wide variety of insects. They become a nuisance, however, when they build nests in or near structures and scavenge for food in recreational areas and in other places frequented by humans.
Characteristic | Description |
---|---|
Color | Yellow and black |
Length | Yellow jackets are about 3/8 to 5/8 inches long. The boldfaced hornet is similar in appearance except that it is white and black and 5/8 to 3/4 inches long. |
Appearance | Very distinct head with chewing mouthparts, short-elbowed antennae, and large compound eyes. Wasps have four clear or smoky brown wings. They have a short, narrow attachment between the thorax and the abdomen. The abdomen is spindle-shaped and tipped with a long stringer. | Colony Size | Paper wasps live in colonies usually consisting of less than 100 adults, though larger is possible |
Breeding | Social wasps have large nests containing three castes: queens, workers, and males. The males and queens are produced in the colony in late summer. They mate, and the fertilized queen overwinters in a protected site. In spring, she seeks an appropriate nesting site in which she builds a paper nest using chewed up wood fibers. Eggs are laid in the cells of the nest, and the young larvae are fed bits of chewed up meat or insect parts by the queen and later by the workers. A queen wasp can lay as many as 100 eggs per day, quite a bit less than a bee. |
Where they live | Often you will find wasp, hornet, and yellowjacket nests in the eaves of a house, the rafters of a shed, or in a pile of firewood. Yellow jackets build their flat paper nests in stacks which are surrounded by a paper envelope. Yellow jackets usually build their nests below ground and in other protected locations. Paper wasps build open flat nests, without a paper envelope, usually found under the eaves of a house and in other protected locations. |
Food Source | Wasps eat other insects, such as spiders, caterpillars, ants, bees, and flies. |
Behavior Notes | Wasps and yellowjackets don’t congregate in the same quantities that many bee species do, but they are often more aggressive. Things as minor as loud noises can provoke them to attack. |
Signs of presence | Wasps will make themselves known if you do something to bother them, but you may also be able to spot their small “paper” nests in their common locations. |
Risks | Unlike bees, wasps aggressively defend their nests and can inflict multiple stings. People who are allergic are particularly at risk. |
There are a variety of ways to remove wasp and yellow jacket nests, though you will want to be sure that you can take them down in a single swoop, or else be ready to run quickly. These methods are also unable to prevent another nest being set up later. Alternatively, you can schedule an appointment with OIRC so we can safely remove the nest and establish ways to prevent their return.
If you have a wasp, hornet, or yellow jacket problem, let us track them down and remove them so you can get back to enjoying your property safely.
OIRC consistently gets 5-star reviews from our customers – the highest praise we can get as a local Clackamas pest control business. Here’s what some of our clients have said about us:
There are two reasons some wasp control companies have monthly service plans: a desire for a larger stream of income and the use of diluted or insufficient products. We find that when we do our job right, the most we need to visit one of our clients is once a quarter or bi-annually in the spring and fall.
We do what it takes to remove pest control problems, and often that means killing them. Our traps do seek to cause minimal pain to pests as they dispatch them.
